Responsible for overseeing all Infrastructure Production and Operations issues, equipment and personnel. Responsible for all Linux servers on campus. Provisioned all new Linux servers, on hardware and Virtual. Daily monitoring of over 200 Linux servers. Was integral in a large data center move project. Led campus wide server security review and audit. Provided customer support via phone. Administrative scripting with shell and php. Planned and expanded current service offerings. Tested and applied new software and maintenance patches and patch management services. Supervise and oversee I.T. change management process. Managed Linux, Email, Development and Production Windows team members directly. Created custom infrastructure self-service applications. Instituted department wide online documentation. Created custom server / service monitoring solutions in addition to managing Nagios and Groundwork software. Maintained several multi-node High Performance Computing Clusters on campus provided by IBM, Penguin Computing and Dell (using ROCKS clustering).


I.T. Specialist, Novo1, 1995 – May 2007.

Responsible for remote systems operations, security, technology builds and maintenance, custom reporting, script generation on SER's CPS system for multiple facilities, Unix SCO and Linux shell scripting, Web page building, MySQL and Foxpro database creation and maintenance. Design, create, install and administration of several Linux and SCO Unix machines providing custom programing. Was integral at the inception of new facilities, running data and phone cabling, designing and implementing networks, supervisory and end user computers and peripherals, servers and data center specifications. Providing direct support for the aforementioned Linux/Unix systems, and Microsoft Windows systems including Windows 95, 98, NT4, 2000 and XP on a variety of consumer and enterprise grade computer hardware. Also administration of a Netware server, providing computer aid, tech support and instruction for operations, supervisory and management staff. Early on in the company, was the remote site I.T. supervisor managing 2 other technical people along with general computer operations management of 2 remote business installations.


Skills:

Extensive background in Linux and Unix having been a leader in the local Linux community and co-founder of the Lehigh Valley Linux User Group for 6 years. Led and was integral in the launch of several other Linux related community projects including the Lehigh Valley Computer Group's Linux SIG, and Lehigh Valleys' Computer for Kids project. Am currently a host of a Linux and Technology based internet radio show, The Linux Link TechShow, since 2003.

Run heterogeneous computer networks consisting of both home Macintosh and PC and enterprise level hardware like Sun workstations, HP and Compaq servers, Decstations and Vaxes which share all services including internet, intranet, printing, files and email. Background in BASH scripting and web based programing using HTML, PHP and MySQL generating static and dynamic content for several internet and intranet websites.
