E-Cig Review: Kingpin and the CE5 Clearomizer
Clearomizers are generally a smaller capacity sort of tank that holds your e-juice. They all have a wicking system in place to get the e-juice to the atomizer instead of being filled with a filler material to hold your e-juice. Most of these clearomizers hold between 1 and 3 ml of the e-juice and the great thing about most of them is it is very easy to actually see how much e-juice you have left in them. No guess work as to when you are going to run out. Generally speaking I believe they also deliver a crisper flavor vape as there is less filler to sort of filter the juice ingredients from the atomizer.
Using these things is really easy. The top tip of the clearomizer (mouthpiece) just unscrews, which allows you direct access into the inside to fill. All you need to remember here is to not drop your e-juice straight down the center, put it down the sides and don’t overfill. Filling to the last filler mark painted on the clearomizer side will keep you from going too far. After filling, give your clearomizer a few minutes to actually wick some of your e-juice to the atomizer and you are ready to go! These things are designed to give a great vapor production and work well on just about any kind of battery you put underneath them.
As with most products, not all clearomizers are created equal and these have some great features like the fact that they are easily broken down into separate components to be cleaned and reused or even replaced. I already mentioned that the top will unscrew, but you can also unscrew the base as well giving you complete access to clean the actual outside tube, through and through. On the base piece you will notice a long stem with wicks attached and a little silicone rubber cap atop of it. This is where your atomizer is. Cleaning this whole setup is easy as well. A simple good rinse under hot water will mostly do the trick here and if you notice any lingering scents or flavors, you can try removing that rubber cap and cleaning that independently. I had to do this myself to get rid of some banana tasting e-juice for a changeover. Now you can either let all this dry out overnight, which I find works the best, or you can simply blot the entire thing dry with a paper towel and reuse straight away. If you chose to do the later, you may want to do a dry burn or two (this is just firing the atomizer up without any e-juice) to get all the moisture out of the wick and atomizer, but if you do this, priming the atomizer is a good idea. To prime, pop that top rubber cap off and drip 1 drop of your e-juice directly down onto the wrapped wires of the atomizer, then reassemble the whole thing, fill and vape! Back to the kit! This kit, as I mentioned, actually comes with 2 of these clearomizers and 3 replaceable cores for them, along with the previously mentioned 2 passthrough batteries, a great little carry case, charger and a manual. You really can’t go wrong here for the $55. These things just last and last and are a pleasure to use. The batteries aren’t a huge capacity, however, the passthrough function lets you charge and vape at the same time and then there is the fact that you also have 2 of them! 2 batteries with 2 clearomizers means you can do 2 different flavors of e-juice without a wash and rinse if you so desire (and I do). I haven’t tried a huge amount of e-cig gear yet, but certainly enough to tell you that no matter what else I am trying out at the moment, it’s this particular kit that I always have handy, whether it is to run different juices through or as my much desired backup system. Thanks Kingpin!
