iPods, iPods everywhere…

I know, I know, I have been lax in writing anything. Well, here I am now. Honestly I have been crazy busy lately. Really!

This past weekend was the major part of the move. I picked up a 17 foot Uhaul truck and packed it full of anything and everything (almost) that was left in the old place. Since we have been through great effort to downsize, the 17 foot truck was a bit overkill, but I am glad we had it as it was a bit rainy that day. The amazing part is this: My new apartment is almost 200 square feet bigger than my last place, we gave away and/or through out almost everything I hadn’t touched in a couple months, and after unloading he truck into the livingroom of the new apartment and unpacking, I really don’t have any *spare* room left over. That just goes to show how much junk a famiy can accumulate over the span of 13 years. And speaking of unpacking, I can see floor now, but there is still a ways to go. Particularly in the technology department. I am still only really using my mac mini and occasionally my laptop (very occasionally). Over the weekend I took down my mail server / mp3 server / fileserver / etc. I need to get it going again so that I can move those services to my laptop-server, but it was do that, or actually post something tonight. Since I am beat, it was easier to sit here at my folding table/desk with my ramen dinner and the TV playing sci-fi in the background and veg out a little while I post.

Now on to the iPods… Something I never considered when I was moving here and contemplating riding on the train to work each day was what to *do* during that ride. Now I know many of you will say “read!”, and you’re right, a lot of people do that. Some people also nap, in fact, a lot more people than I would have thought would be confortable doing so. But, what I noticed is that iPods seem to be an absolute phenomina. It seems like absolutely everyone has one they are toting around withb them with those familiar looking white earbuds dangling from their heads. Apple just *has* to be making an absolute killing on these things. In the past couple weeks I must have easilly seen over a thousand different people sporting that particular gadget. Noticably absent from the portable media player circuit on the train? The Zune. Haven’t seen a one. I have seen a couple iRivers, and a couple of the ones put out by creative labs, and even one of the sandisk ones.

Anyway, that’s probably enough for now. There are actually a lot of things to talk about but just too few minutes in the day right now. Quite a turn around from the usual 😉

Heh, was wondering if anyone would catch on.. It’s just a theme I picked up somewhere – looked better than most of the other ones. Someday I’ll do a custom one, just no time right now to mess with it.
