BSFLite

I thought I’d try and sneak this in real quick before I head to bed for the night.

Today I was doing some work outside of my office and computer, and the only machine available was a windows machine. I really needed to send a couple quick IM’s but no AIM installed on this machine and I didn’t want to spend the time or hassle getting it on there. What to do? Well, I quickly grabbed a copy of putty (yes it was a windows machine) and put that in my home directory share that follows me around. I started up putty and ssh’d to my machine on my desk (yay Linux). At that point I started looking quickly for a decent CLI aim client. I looked at one I didn’t really like the last time I used (naim) and then happened across one called BSFLite. BSFLite is a fantastic little client which reminds me a lot of an irc client. It works really well, and it’s easy to install (make, make install). So, if you are like me and you are a command line junkie, give this a try. You just might like it.
