E-Cig Review: Velvet Cloud Vapor – E-Juice

Velvet Cloud Vapor

Velvet Cloud Vapor

Velvet Cloud Vapor!

You know, sometimes a brand in general sort of reminds you of something, and for some reason VCV doesn’t remind me of San Francisco, but of New England. I guess it is that whole feeling of just settling in on a cold day with a nice tobacco… Then again, I have been in New England on a cold day with a nice tobacco and I have never been to San Francisco 🙂

So, 2 e-juice reviews in a row! Yes, that is how I roll, and my vaping palate is now getting a much needed workout! Velvet Cloud Vapor sent me 5 samples for review, White Beard, Night Shift, Catherine the Grape, Mewlew’s Magic Blend and Monkey Business. Now of note here is that VCV uses 100% VG + some distilled water and flavorings. No PG, so for those of you either with an affinity for 100% VG like me, or if you have some PG based allergy, these guys are a good place to go! For the purposes of this review, I used some CE2 clearomizers and my 510-T tank system (again, thanks Kingpin) as I am clean out of cartomizers at this point. Not to spoil the review for you, but you are going to want to use this stuff in a tank or clearomizer anyhow because you are going to want to hit this stuff all day long, just like I did.

First off was the White Beard. This brought a vision to my mind of Gandalf Smoking (from the Hobbit) see here that I just could not shake. That is just how I imagined it. This is a complex mild tobacco blend with a hint of some creamy sweetness in there somewhere. The website says butterscotch and custard and old timey favorites, and after reading about it I could indeed identify the custard as that creamy part. It is quite delicious. Lots of vapor here and really no throat at the 6mg nic strength, and that is the way I like it! This is just sooo smoooth!

Next up was Night Shift. I am not going to snow you here. I have tried a lot of different e-juices by now and his is one of my all-time favorites. Again, not throaty but billows of vapor production, this is a chocolaty coffee-ish flavor. The website says creamy coffee and glazed chocolate donut. This is spot on what I taste. I dig this. A lot.

Catherine the Grape is a really interesting flavor and the brightest of the samples they sent me. I suppose that is sort of par for the course with this being the 1 fruity flavor, but even at that, this is a lot different that you might expect. I really expected a grape coolaid kind of flavor but maybe with a twist but what is there is only the twist part. This is NOTHING like your average grape flavor. It is grape, for sure, but *real* grape. Think purple grapes from the market kind of grape. A sophisticated adult grape taste. Their website says this is pipinot noir grape and black currant but as I am not much of a wine drinker (whiskey, scotch) I will have to take their word for it. For a grape flavor, I really like this a lot and I really was surprised by it. At 6mg nic it has good vapor and just a little throat, probably from the fruit juice. Delicious.

Mewlew’s Magic Blend. What can I say? This is Chocolate Cake. If you could smoke/vape a chocolate cake, this would be it. You know, that ultra moist kind of chocolate cake. Yummy. The only thing odd I noticed was on an exhale I sometimes tasted this odd but not unpleasant flavor way at the back of my tongue. I initially though this might be a holdover from a previous juice in my tank/atomizer, but even after vigorous cleaning it was still there. It is almost a nutty kind of taste and it wasn’t until I read the description that I settled on a fudgy sort of aftertaste. The description they give on the site is chocolates, cream, butterscotch, donuts and fudge. If you have a chocolate cake weakness, this is your personal crack. Lots of flavor and loads of vapor from this one. I would love to hang for a while in this Mewlew person’s kitchen 🙂

The last juice in the set here is Monkey Business. Now it is VERY important for you all to understand how much I dislike bananas. I think for me it’s much more of a texture problem than the flavor because I always liked the occasional banana chip, just cannot at all stand the fruit. As you can imagine, with the name and the banana smell when I cracked open the bottle, I approached this flavor with some trepidation. I did, however, promise a review and, being a man of my word, I set out to vape the stuffing out of it. The vapor production on this is enormous and thick – on the level with the White Beard. The flavor, for me was another shocker. This stuff tastes a lot like the Night Shift (which I adore) with just the slightest overtone of banana. There is a good bit of banana fragrance but the taste is not overpowering in the juice, which I assumed it would be. I remarked to a coworker (a banana lover) about being really surprised that this was so good. I could easily vape this right along and really enjoy it. The smell is similar to those chocolate covered bananas that I have seen (other) people eat. Very nice!

Velvet Cloud Vapor get’s a definitive A+ grade in my book. They are easily one of my favorite e-juice makers and I certainly hope they want me to check out more of their stuff! I also made note of the glowing reviews they seem to have everywhere you look on the web. It is well deserved to be sure. Pricing there is $8 for a 15ml, $15 for 30ml bottle, and that is darned decent, especially considering the quality, in fact, it’s downright cheap. Great personal communication from these guys, fast shipping and even a personalized note in my mail makes these guys tops. When you go there to order your juice (and you are just silly if you don’t), tell them Linc sent you. Hurry though, don’t want them to run out before you get your order of Night Shift filled 🙂

I ordered some juice after reading this review and within a couple hours I received an email from VCV telling me my order had shipped and they also had a tracking number. Looking forward to tasting these flavors as the last (well known) vendor I ordered from was a huge disappointment for me. When my order arrives I’ll stop back here and update this comment.
